In Southwest Florida, the true measure of a luxury home isn’t just found in the kitchen or the master suite it’s found in how effortlessly the home transitions to the outdoors. When we designed this custom lanai and pool enclosure, the goal was simple: blur the lines between the interior living space and the backyard oasis.

Here is how architectural design and quality construction come together to create the ultimate Florida lifestyle.

1. The Art of the “Disappearing” Wall

Take a look at the expansive covered patio section in the images above. Notice how the large sliding glass doors pocket completely out of sight? This is a hallmark of modern Florida architectural design.

By eliminating the physical barrier between the living room and the lanai, the pool deck instantly becomes an extension of the home’s square footage. Whether you are hosting a large gathering or enjoying a quiet morning, the ability to open the entire back of the house changes the fundamental way you interact with your property.

2. A Unified Foundation

A critical design element that often goes unnoticed—until you see it done right is the flooring. In this project, we used large-format, neutral-toned porcelain tile that runs continuously from the covered patio area right up to the pool’s edge.

This continuous decking material does two things:

  • Visual Expansion: It tricks the eye into seeing one massive, unified space rather than a separate “inside” and “outside.”

  • Safety and Durability: High-quality outdoor tile is slip-resistant and engineered to withstand intense UV rays, pool chemicals, and heavy foot traffic without fading or cracking.

3. The Modern Pool Enclosure (The “Birdcage”)

Living in Florida means dealing with bugs, debris, and intense sun. The modern pool enclosure often called a birdcage or lanai screen—is the ultimate solution.

As seen in the photos, the white aluminum framing of this custom enclosure features wide-view screen panels. Rather than chopping up the beautiful view of the green space beyond with thick vertical beams every few feet, the structural design maximizes the sightlines. It allows the homeowner to enjoy unobstructed, panoramic views of the Florida landscape while swimming or relaxing, completely protected from mosquitoes and leaves.

4. Designing the Perfect Pool Scale

Not every pool needs to be a massive lagoon. For this project, a sleek, rectangular lap pool was chosen. The clean, geometric lines of the pool perfectly mirror the structural lines of the home and the screen enclosure overhead. It provides ample space for swimming and cooling off while leaving plenty of usable deck space for lounging and entertaining under the covered lanai.

Ready to Build Your Oasis?

Your backyard should be a private resort that you can enjoy 365 days a year. Whether you are looking to remodel an existing patio, upgrade your pool deck, or construct a brand-new custom lanai from the ground up, the details matter.
